The Color Code personality test, created by Dr. Taylor Hartman, is different from most color systems because it is built on your core motive, the underlying driver behind everything you do. Hartman argues that understanding why you act is more revealing than simply describing how you behave.

The Four Color Code Personalities

  • Red is motivated by power: productive, decisive, and focused on getting results.
  • Blue is motivated by intimacy: loyal, sincere, and focused on quality and connection.
  • White is motivated by peace: calm, patient, and focused on harmony and acceptance.
  • Yellow is motivated by fun: sociable, optimistic, and focused on enjoying the moment.

Unlike systems that let you be an even blend, the Color Code assigns one primary color as your driving motive, then looks at your secondary colors to explain the nuance in your personality.

Where the Color Code Comes From

The Color Code, sometimes called the People Code, was developed by psychologist Dr. Taylor Hartman. It is widely used in relationships, team building, and leadership coaching to explain conflict and improve how different motives work together.
